What is the Process for Smile Makeovers?
Step 1: Initial Consultation
During your initial visit, your dentist will conduct a thorough examination to assess your oral health and discuss your cosmetic goals. They will evaluate the condition of your teeth, gums, and overall smile to determine the best approach for your smile makeover. This visit often includes digital imaging or photographs to design a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Your dentist will explain the various procedures involved, such as veneers, teeth whitening, or gum contouring, and outline the timeline, costs, and expected outcomes.
Step 2: Initial Treatments
In the next visit, your dentist will begin implementing the initial treatments based on your personalized plan. This may involve procedures such as teeth whitening, where a whitening gel is applied, and a special light is used to enhance the results. If veneers are part of your makeover, the dentist will prepare your teeth by removing a small amount of enamel and taking impressions or digital scans to create custom veneers. Additionally, if gum contouring is included, the dentist will reshape your gum line using lasers or surgical tools to achieve a more balanced smile.
Step 3: Placement of Restorations and Final Adjustments
During this visit, if veneers or crowns are included in your makeover, your dentist will place these restorations. They will check the fit, shape, and colour of each restoration, making any necessary adjustments before permanently bonding them to your teeth. After placing the veneers or crowns, your dentist will make final adjustments to ensure that all treatments are well-integrated and that you are satisfied with the results. They will also review your care instructions and discuss any follow-up appointments to ensure the longevity and health of your new smile.
