What is the Process for Root Fillings?
Diagnosis: The dentist identifies the need for a root canal based on symptoms such as severe toothache, prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, or signs of infection seen on X-rays.
Procedure: The dentist removes the infected or damaged pulp from the tooth, cleans and shapes the root canals, and fills them with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha. This material seals the canals to prevent future infection.
Restoration: After the root canal, the tooth is sealed with a temporary or permanent filling. In many cases, a crown is placed over the tooth to restore its strength and function.
