Root fillings, commonly known as root canal treatments, are dental procedures used to treat infection or damage within the pulp of a tooth. The pulp is the innermost part of the tooth that contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. When the pulp becomes infected or inflamed due to decay, injury, or repeated procedures, a root canal can help save the tooth.

What is the Process for Root Fillings?
Diagnosis: The dentist identifies the need for a root canal based on symptoms such as severe toothache, prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, or signs of infection seen on X-rays.
Procedure: The dentist removes the infected or damaged pulp from the tooth, cleans and shapes the root canals, and fills them with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha. This material seals the canals to prevent future infection.
Restoration: After the root canal, the tooth is sealed with a temporary or permanent filling. In many cases, a crown is placed over the tooth to restore its strength and function.
Root fillings are essential for saving teeth that are otherwise at risk of extraction, allowing the tooth to continue functioning normally and preventing further complications.
