Dental Facelift

The Dental Facelift procedure usually (but not always) involves a full mouth reconstruction and this is done by “raising the bite.” This term in dentistry is called Increasing Vertical Dimension.

By doing this and providing crowns or veneers, etc, that are slightly taller than the previously worn or damaged teeth the lower third of the face is lengthened. This in turn can eliminate the small lines at the side of your mouth giving a more youthful appearance. Over 80% of patients treated by this procedure look younger according to scientific studies.

What is a Dental Facelift?

A dental facelift, also known as a “smile makeover,” is a cosmetic dental procedure designed to rejuvenate and enhance the appearance of your smile. It typically involves a combination of treatments to address various aesthetic concerns and improve the overall look of your teeth and gums. These treatments may include:

  • Dental Veneers: Thin, custom-made shells placed over the front of the teeth to correct imperfections such as discoloration, chips, or misalignment.
  • Teeth Whitening: Procedures to brighten and lighten stained or discolored teeth.
  • Gum Contouring: Reshaping the gum line to create a more balanced and harmonious smile.
  • Dental Implants or Bridges: Replacing missing teeth to restore function and aesthetics.
  • Crowns and Fillings: Repairing damaged or decayed teeth to improve their appearance and strength.

The goal of a dental facelift is to create a more youthful, symmetrical, and aesthetically pleasing smile, often achieving results that can significantly enhance your confidence and overall facial appearance.

What is the Process for A Dental Facelift?

Step 1: Initial Consultation

Your dentist will evaluate your oral health, discuss your aesthetic goals, and create a personalised treatment plan. This may involve digital imaging or photographs to design the best approach for your smile makeover.

Step 2: Second Visit

During the initial treatments visit, depending on your treatment plan, your dentist may perform several procedures. For teeth whitening, the dentist will apply a whitening gel and use a special light to enhance the results. If dental veneers are part of your makeover, your dentist will prepare your teeth by removing a small amount of enamel and taking impressions or digital scans to create custom veneers. Additionally, if gum contouring is included in your plan, the dentist will reshape your gum line using a laser or surgical tools to achieve a more balanced smile.

Step 3: Final Visit

During this visit, if veneers or crowns are part of your makeover, your dentist will place these restorations. They will carefully check the fit, shape, and colour, making any necessary adjustments before permanently bonding them to your teeth. After placement, the dentist will make final adjustments to ensure that all treatments are well-integrated and that you are satisfied with the results. They will also review your care instructions and discuss any follow-up appointments needed to maintain your new smile.
