What is the Process for Placing Dental Implants?
Step 1: Initial Consultation
During your initial consultation we will listen to your concerns about your teeth and talk you through the options for dental implants. We will examine your teeth, mouth and gums and may take X-rays and scans at this time. If you decide to go ahead with the treatment, we will formulate a bespoke treatment plan for you tailored to your specific needs.
Step 2: Implant Surgery
We understand that undergoing dental treatment can be a very frightening experience. Our expert team are here to put you at ease every step of the way. During your surgery you will be given a local aesthetic to numb your mouth. The titanium dental implants will then be gently inserted into your gums. We will then fit you with a temporary crown so that you can leave the surgery without any gaps in your mouth.
Step 3: Healing Period
Your mouth and gums may feel sore for a few days, and you can manage this with paracetamol. Usually we need to allow between 2-6 months for your new dental implants to fuse with your jawbone. This stage is vital to ensure the success of your dental implants. Whilst you recover, our team will work hard on creating your bespoke bridge and / or crowns, unique to you.
Step 4: Final Appointment
Once you have fully healed, you will be invited back to the surgery so that your custom-made bridge or crown can be fitted. Once fitted, your surgery is complete.
