Composite bonding is a cosmetic dental procedure used to improve the appearance of a person’s teeth. It involves the use of a tooth-colored resin material that is applied to the surface of the tooth to change its shape, colour, or size.

What is Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding is an excellent alternative to more invasive treatments such as porcelain veneers and crowns. Composite bonding can help alter the appearance of your smile by filling in minor gaps and changing the size or shape of your teeth to give them an all-round better appearance.

Composite bonding can be done in a single appointment and lasts between 5-7 years as long as they are cared for and regular check ups are carried out.

How Does Composite Bonding Work at My New Smile?

At your consultation we will assess your teeth and find out what you’d like to change about your smile. We’ll discuss the benefits of composite bonding and make sure that it’s the right treatment for you.

At your next appointment, we will choose a shade of composite bonding that closely matches the colour of your own teeth. One of our expert dentists will then roughen the surface of the tooth, which does not hurt or damage the tooth in any way. Next we will apply a conditioning liquid to help the bonding material adhere. The composite resin is then applied to the tooth, sculpting and shaping it until the desired look is achieved. A UV light is then placed over your teeth which hardens the composite bonding firmly in place.

We will finish off with a polish of the teeth to make sure the material is smooth against your tooth and giving it a natural-looking appearance.
